ID'd 3X ARMED SOLDIER 100 ILLINOIS INFANTRY DIED DURING WAR UNUSUAL BURIAL dancer quarter-plate+ in size1 6 tintype of an identified soldier, "William Mahaffay, son of Samuel and Betsey Churchill Mahaffay". Mahaffay was born in 1843 and died of disease in 1863. Apparently there was some mix up with his burial and an unknown soldier was buried as Mahaffay at Oak Hill Cemetery in Illinois.. but Mahaffay is actually buried at Stones River National Cemetery in Tennessee.. see picture 2 (source: FindAGrave). You can find his memorial on FindAGrave at Stones
