In the picture we see a Swedish liner that has been driven towards the coast during a storm. The Swedish flag flies in the stern. Jacob Hgg was a Swedish naval officer and famous marine painter. The hull he has painted in the painting corresponds in detail with an existing model in the Maritime History Museum, most similar to a drawing drawn up by Chapman in 1792 for a 74 gun ship.
